Monthly Success Progress Tracking:
An essential habit for successful people is to track their progress and keep setting new goals.
It’s important to take stock of how far we’ve come and where we want to go next.

The Progress So Far
It has been a year and a half since we started this mission for success. And I know some of you have checked in from time to time and I’m truly grateful for the support.
I know I’ve just been getting things together, so you’ve seen the raw bones of what I’m trying to do. However, I truly hope that I’ve been able to offer in a little bit of insight on how you can find success.
And for those of you who are new, I would like to welcome you to the mission. Life can be whatever you want to make it. I’m trying to prove that to myself. I’m trying to strive to find what my ultimately successful life is.
And I hope I can inspire some of you along the way.

1. Success Progress Lessons
Here’s what we’ve done recently.
Reading and studying everyday changes you. If you don’t have a regular habit of study, even just reading 5 pages a day, then you should start today.
This month I’ve been reading Stephen R. Covey’s, The 8th Habit.
This is a fantastic read, all about finding your voice and your passion and using it to help others to find theirs as well.
Voice is very basically our purpose. It is that point where we find what we are good, what we are passionate about and what the world needs from us. When we find that point, we know what we need to do and we can live with real purpose.
“You have to decide what your highest priorities are and have the courage — pleasantly, smilingly, nonapologetically, to say “no” to other things. And the way you do that is by having a bigger “yes” burning inside. The enemy of the “best” is often the “good.””Stephen R. Covey
It’s a fantastic read and totally worth getting your own copy.
If you are interested read my study of the following:
I’m doing a deep study so expect more success lessons from Mr Covey in future.
Around a year ago, when we started on our mission for success, I asked the internet a simple question. How can I make a million dollars? It was really asking, how do I get financially free? The internet spat back at me: create a passive income by investing, building a business and hustling more, more, more.
It was simple. And that old saying is true. Life is simple, it’s not easy.
In terms of investing, we got a whole lot stronger and a whole lot smarter this year.
At the moment we’ve built up our strategy for stock investing:
Read here for some of the lessons we’ve learnt about investing in the stock market:
We have also started to think about taking our investing to a whole new level, going from passive to active investing. Check the link here …
And we’re also starting to research property as a way to scale up our investments and to achieve more from our money.
Another lesson I learned really early in the mission was that you shouldn’t work for money, you should work to learn.
You can’t compartmentalize life. When you say, ‘I’m going to shut off the real me and just tick the boxes from 9-5, get payed, and then get onto relaxing’, then you have no life.
And so I’ve been injecting these lessons into my day job, and it really does seem to be making me a much better teacher.
Some insights on this are in my recent article on Networking, find it here:
Also, insights on business:
Since the last track, the side hustle I was working on didn’t quite work out. I dropped it. At the end of the day, it wasn’t a labour of passion. But I’m working on a new idea, as you can probably see, and one day I’ll be hustling to do my very own thing.
For some insights on business:
Creative Side Hustle:
But also, as a result, I unexpectedly started writing a novel, and only just last week I finished draft 1 of my very first novel.
It all started by taking my after school creative writing activity a bit more seriously.
I had always dreamed of writing a novel, but all my big ideas usually died on the vine. But now I find myself with a 350 page first novel. I don’t know great the final product will be, but I look forward to sharing some sections here with you soon.
Also, since it’s school holidays, my side hustle, this blog, has been able to get much more attention.
After a year and a half, I can say that I’ve started to write much better blogs. I didn’t know what I was doing at the start, but I followed the SEO editor and learned basically what to do. I went from two red dots to two green dots. I went from boring long tracks to understanding headings, quotes and images. I can now even put in a movie clip.
As you can probably tell, I still haven’t mastered blogging. However, at the very least I’ve improved my structure and along the way I’ve learned a fair bit by recording my studies.
Lately, I’ve learned a lot from these guys on YouTube, and I’m happy to give them a shout out:
So recently, I’ve started learning about SEO, how to build an audience, E.mail marketing, E.books and building a list. All those things that are fundamentals of the whole blogging game. I wasn’t ready for it all at the start, but I’ve started to understand it now.
So looking to keep building on this knowledge to try and bring you a more and more improved product to help you on your mission for success.
Success Progress in Fitness
When I started on this mission for success, I had just moved to Ho Chi Minh and I was feeling the fitness slipping.
So I dove into a full study of living well, getting healthy and living with energy.
Read all about the results here:
At the moment I’m feeling good and I’m planning another charge to get back to peak health and stay there. I figure if I keep fighting my way back to peak fit, then one day I’ll get stuck there.
Success Progress in Relationships
In regards to relationships, my lovely fiancé and I got married almost one year and one month ago. It’s been a great year as we’ve gone from strength to strength. And we just added to our small family with the birth of our son, Will. (Sorry, no pictures until/unless he says he wants to be part of the mission)
The addition of this little bundle of screaming, pooping, just started smiling joy, has made things interesting for the mission for success, but we’re making it work.
Right now life is great and we tell each other how grateful we are each and every day.
Success Progress – The Path Ahead
So that’s where we are now. Going through all that, I’m feeling a lot more purposeful, inspired, empowered and positive about life.
It’s been a huge year for us: this blog is becoming ‘something’, the novel is up to a first draft finished stage, work is feeling stable and I’m making some steps to become even more professional and capable as a teacher, and the groundwork for a passion business/side-hustle is being laid. And most of all, we live our days in health, happiness, fitness, love and a positive, enthusiastic state.
Going forward, I’m feeling a lot of pressure to build on what I feel was a great year. However, I know the key is to keep the vision alive, dream big but plan small, and just take one step in the right direction every chance I get.
At this stage, I don’t have the time to dedicate to become an all star blogger. I also don’t have the knowledge in my areas yet. But I’m in no rush. I will continue to churn out content, learning as I read and study and write about the topics that will transform my life.
For now the goal is to write a blog a week. For the month I’m looking to continue to build on the success concepts of investing, business, planning and strategizing, health and well-being, and solving problems.
I’m looking to finish reading Covey’s the 8th Habit and I’m really excited to start on probably Napoleon Hill’s Think and Grow Rich, or Dale Carnegie’s How to Win Friends and Influence People.
Going forward we plan to develop a cash savings fund, so we are in a position to swoop when opportunities come along. And we are going to continue to look for some good high return opportunities.
We are also very excited about the idea of diversifying and moving into some kind of property investment.
We also need to continue to ‘Learn, learn, learn’. Our financial literacy is still limited. We know the basics but we need to start to learn a lot more about evaluation, ROI, taxation and leverage, to begin with.
Success Progress Final Thoughts
So, now that we’ve tracked our progress so far, I feel very good that we are on the right path.
I never imagined so much was possible. And I’m so proud of my efforts so far, I’m inspired to keep going and do what needs to be done to keep striving for success.
I know if I just keep going along the way I have been; doing what I can and pushing myself to do my best, I know this time next year I will be in a truly amazing position.
Simple formula for Success Progress
All we need to do is to set goals, break them down and go one step after another, becoming a better, stronger and more capable version of who we are. And step by step we will one day find that we are truly great. The other results won’t matter so much. But I have no doubt if I continue to move forward with great purpose and continue to develop into a more capable person, the financial and emotional and physical results will all be positive.
Whatever your position, whatever your progress and whatever your goals are, I wish you the best and urge you to never stop striving. Strive to be your best. Try to bring great value to people. Work to find happiness. Strive for freedom, and wealth and wisdom. Whatever you want, don’t stop striving for it.
Thanks for letting me share these thoughts and remember to never stop striving for success.
