How to Achieve Financial Freedom Through Investing

To be truly successful: to be free to do what you want, to live where you want, go where you want and have what you want, you need to start investing to become financially free.

In order to be financially free, in charge of your life and your time, you need to be the boss of your own profitable business or you need to set up passive revenue streams that will bring in enough money to live on.

Entrepreneur vs Investor

In order to be your own boss you need to work incredibly hard and have a great idea.

In the beginning, most of us probably don’t have that great idea all figured out yet and most of us probably aren’t in the position to give up our regular paying jobs. I know I’m not ready to jump all in and risk everything.

Even for those who do have that great idea brewing away, it’s important to remember:

According to Bloomberg, 8 out of 10 entrepreneurs who start businesses fail within the first 18 months. A whopping 80% crash and burn.

So, while it’s a great way to financial freedom, starting your own business is perhaps not the best place to start. From my own perspective, it’s something I aspire to do, but it’s something I need to prepare a lot more for.

On the other hand, developing a passive income stream through investing is a much easier proposition. By investing your disposable income, you have the potential to free yourself and build a base that will help you to develop your own business in the future.

So, to begin with, my fiancée and I decided to become financially free and that our best course of action would be to start with investing.

Read on to learn how to become financially free through investing.

How to Invest with Purpose: 5 Big Lessons I Learned About Investing Time and Money

When I first started out on this journey to success, I learned that one of the key habits of very successful people was reading – a lot of reading. I had a lot to learn, so I began to do a lot of reading.

The very first book I bought was Investing with Purpose, by Mark Aardsma. This book taught me a lot about investing, but more importantly, it taught me about living with purpose and investing so I can achieve the kind of life I want.

The big lessons I learnt were:

  1. Remember the Big Picture
  2. Be aware of your resources.
  3. Become the master of time.
  4. Chose investment over consumption
  5. Understand ROI.

Success through Affirmation

This year my fiancée and I started out on a mission to find extreme success in life. We started simple and very soon we had a whole lot of goals and plans and projects underway. We started a study of success and pretty soon we came across the idea of affirmations.

What Are Affirmations?

“Affirmations are sentences aimed to affect the conscious and the subconscious mind. The words composing the affirmation, automatically and involuntarily, bring up related mental images into the mind, which could inspire, energize and motivate. Repeating affirmations, and the resultant mental images, affect the subconscious mind, which in turn, influences the behavior, habits, actions and reactions.”

By Remez Sasson

Traditionally, I haven’t been much of a liberal positive thinker, so my initial reaction was that all this affirmation stuff was nonsense. In my study I was more inclined to listen to Tony Robbins on the subject, when he says things like: “It’s not about positive thinking, because I don’t believe in that … I don’t believe you should go to your garden and chant, ‘There’s no weeds, there’s no weeds, there’s no weeds,’ and think that that’s going to solve something. I’m a believer in find the weed and rip it out.”

So, to be clear right from the start, I’m not a devoted affirmationist (if that’s what they’re called). However, I am willing to concede that affirmations have power.

It is true that everyone talks to themselves. I do. The voice in my head goes all the time. It’s also true that what that voice says usually comes true. If it says “you’re not good enough to write a novel!” Then, well, you’re not likely to ever write that novel. (or whatever your pie-in-the-sky ambitions is.)

So, what I’ve learnt is that if you want to find success and if you want to live with purpose and achieve all the wonderful things you’ve planned out for your future, you need to have the kind of bright, positive, empowered voice that will drive you on to success. A powerful voice that drives you to take risks, to be positive and to persevere and strive to do more than you currently can.

I used to have an inner voice that sabotaged and stopped me at every turn. However, little by little, I’ve taken power over my thoughts and I’ve developed a new set of affirmations that will drive me on to achieve the success I need in the future.

How to Respond to Failure So You Can Keep Chasing Success

Or how I smiled while losing $10,000.

How can you lose money and still feel like a winner?

It’s strange I know, but when you are really in control of your feelings and you have the right plans and motivations, you don’t react so drastically to things.

Don’t get me wrong, there are moments of fear, doubt, anger and pain. For us $10,000 is a huge amount of money. But no amount of money is worth giving up my connection with my partner. A small slip is not worth giving up a whole bright future. If you let loses get you down, they only take away from your future wins.

The way to respond is to take a breath, take stock of what’s important, remind yourself of your long term goals and prepare to fight to get it back and get back on track for the future you want.

I am a Success: Because I learned to act like a millionaire.

I decided that 2018 was going to be my year to make changes and get the life I really want. Ultimately, I decided I wanted one thing: I want financial freedom!

I want to be free to do what I want, to live where I want, go where I want and have what I want.

In order to have this dream, this lifestyle, and live well to the day I die, I need to make millions.

Why I don’t make Millions?

I, like so many others in the world, had been brought up with the message: Get a good job, work hard and you will be able to enjoy a modest to good life.

This, I have to admit sounded like good advice. My fiancée and I had good jobs and we were living well and saving a reasonable amount of money.

But when we started to think about how we wanted to live, and the life we wanted for our future children, and our future expenses and how we wanted to live in retirement, we came to the realization that we would need to work a very long time and save a whole lot of money. And even then, we couldn’t live the way we wanted.

I knew there was a better way. I knew there were people living much easier. I wanted more than the normal plan would give. I wanted financial freedom.

So I needed some new messages and some new lessons.

How to Plan for Success

If you want success in anything: money, business, relationships, health and/or happiness, you need a plan. Here’s how to plan for real success!

True success is not possible without a plan!

In order to achieve success you need to know what success is to you. You need to know who you are, what you want, what you are capable of, what you are passionate about and how you are going to get there.

All of these insights I have learned from my own life. However, most recently I have discovered a host of great mentors in the field of behavior psychology and motivational speaking. Inspired by these people and my own life experiences I have formulated my own path to success. I want to share this and hopefully you can follow along and develop your own plan for success.

Simply, in order to maintain my focus and achieve what I see as success, I go through the following plan.

  1. Acknowledge Problems
  2. Envision Success
  3. Develop Motivation
  4. Implement Discipline
  5. Celebrate Regularly

These are my catchphrases for what is essentially a universal plan for success.

This plan is no different to the plans of all the other experts.

It makes sense, it works and it can make life better for me, you and the entire human race.

I absolutely believe this, and this is why I want to share this program and my story with you today.

I am a Success: How I went from Big Fat Zero to My Own Personal Hero

I’ve decided to make 2018 my year to achieve all that I am capable of achieving.

I’ve decided to share this with you all because I desire to be a force for change in the world. I want to show all the average Joe’s out there that it is possible to change and to achieve success. I also want to track my efforts and hopefully bring you all along for the ride.

It has taken me a long, long road to get to the point where I can say that I am a success. Even now this is an incredibly difficult thing for me to say. But I am able to say it.

You see this is so hard to say, for two reasons:

1. I was programmed by my upbringing not to say such things, and

2. I used to be a massive loser.

It’s true. I used to be a real loser. When I was 20 I had really nothing going for me. I had given up every advantage of my well-off upbringing and elite boy-school education.

To be as brief and painless as possible:

  • I had dropped out of Uni and was working full time as a “checkout chick” in a supermarket. I was earning minimum wage and virtually living in my mother’s basement.
  • I was horribly overweight – weighing in, at my worst, at 126KG.
  • I hated the way I looked. I had no energy and no passion.
  • I hated the way I felt.  I had no love life at all. I didn’t even like myself.
  • I smoked and drank and other things.
  • I was depressed.

What turned it all around?
